Chair Turntable

Credit for the original turntable goes to Craig Limber.

When you are flying for relaxation and thermal conditions are good, cranking your neck to stare up into the sky for hours on end detracts from the enjoyment.  Sitting is more comfortable than standing, but it's a nuisance to follow the plane around the sky by lifting and turning the chair.  This is a great solution.

I have my nice comfy sling back camping chair (complete with drink holder) resting on a ball bearing turntable.

Very simple to make, the swivel is a lazy susan bearing available at any hardware/home improvement store, the base is crossed 2X4's and the table is a sheet of 3/4" MDF board. Simple cleats on the corners hold the feet in place, but they are not necessary. A handle hole and paint complete the project. Before going for your one hour thermal task, spend an hour building one of these.
